What is Multimedia?

Multimedia is the use of a computer to present and combine text, graphics, audio, and video with links and tools that let the user navigate, interact, and create; and multimedia is used to represent information in an interesting and interactive manner. It combines text, audio, video, graphics, and animation. It uses media in an interactive manner to provide information in multiple ways.

Multimedia based on my Understanding

Based on my understanding, Multimedia is derived from two words ‘Multi and medium’. It is defined as multiple media that can be used to deliver information digitally. Text, graphics, images, audio, videos, and animations are all examples of different types of media that can be combined to create multimedia. It allows the content to be presented in nonlinear way, which allows the reader to be active rather than passive. Multimedia is really important now a days, because it can be used for our businesses, entertainment, advertisements, education, gaming and filming. So, this is important for all of us and our society.

In multimedia we can enhance and showcase our skills and talents in making and creating animations such as contents like; funny videos, amazing animations and also for business marketing that we can use in the near future.

Facebook

A most common social media application that most of the people used. It is an example of interactive media that uses graphics and text to allow users to express their thoughts, feelings and insights, it is also used to share photos, communicate and share information about themselves.

Instagram

I have also an Instagram account and also an example of interactive media wherein i can communicate to other people, and also post my pictures.

Spotify

I also have a Spotify account wherein i can listen to music and create my own song playlist.

Wix 

I have also created a Wixsite as one of our activity in E-Tech, i used texts and images to create a beautiful output. For me, Making a wixsite is more fun and exciting to do.

How do i use multimedia?

Based on the samples of multimedia that i have listed above, i used multimedia to express my opinions and thoughts about anything, i also used this in communicating to other people as well as in sharing information. As a student i used multimedia to create amazing powerpoint and activities that contains text, audio, video images and animation for it to be more attractive and eye catcher to the person who will see it.

What is the significance of using Multimedia?

For me, Multimedia is important to us in today's generation, because we used this to connect, communicate, create, and share with more than just one medium. We can use this in our education to make amazing and more attractive powerpoint, in filming where we can edit and create awesome animations, in communication where there's a lot of new media that we can use to communicate because of technology. In entertainment, we can publish and post videos for fun as well as in businesses and marketing, we can advertise our products using multimedia. That's why multimedia is important to our lives and also our society as we adapt the new generation where technology is the most powerful tool to succeed.
